Vampires, Ghost ,Knights & other Poetic Tales: Poems with a Tale to be told by Jacqueline Mead
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This collection of poetry is unique to a lot that I’ve read. Most of the poems are longer than average which, in my book, is always a plus!
In case you’re totally unfamiliar with this kind of poetry, these poems aren’t just random thoughts or bits and pieces – as she says, they are tales. Mini stories all wrapped up in a poetic verse, and I love that this author doesn’t hold back from lyrical rhyming.
Most (all?) of the poems rhyme and I really enjoy that style of poetry. I think it’s great fun to see the way the author twists and bends to come up with a great story in a way that rhymes.
It is definitely heavier on the vampire stories… but since I’m a HUGE lover of vamps, this is also exactly perfect for me. As far as content I didn’t find anything I thought would be offensive or upsetting in any of the poems, but I read adult works regularly so perhaps that skews my perspective.
I definitely recommend this read to anyone in the mood for fun short stories told in a lyrical way.
